Want to have some fun? Search YouTube, Google, or anywhere else for “end times” or “last days”. You will find thousands of references and videos on what we are going through right now and what we can expect to come in the future. You will see terms like, Geoengineering, Agenda 21, prophecy, Revelation, and a long list of other references.
At first glance, you may chalk this all up to conspiracy theorists and nut-jobs, but as you dig a little deeper, you will find scientific facts that back up the claims (at least for many of them). I want to be careful in all of this End Times stuff so you don’t feel the need to dismiss it as just another crazy person spouting religious rhetoric at you. While it is true, I am a Christian that believes strongly that Jesus is real and shall return, much of these writings will effect everyone one way or another.
So, why focus on a relationship with God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, when we claim the end is near. Simple! People are made for eternity and Jesus is eternal. Our relationship with Him will last for eternity so why not start now. Furthermore, we don’t know when the actual end will happen; it could be in an hour, a month, a year, or a number of years. Nobody knows the date and time… God said so, so I believe that.
Until that time, Jesus wants to spend time with us and love us as if we were the only one’s on Earth. God calls us His children and that He is like a mother hen protecting her chicks.
I mention people being eternal for one specific reason: we have been given the choice of where we choose to spend eternity. There are two options and no others. I respect your right to choose but feel I would be remiss if I did not at least point out that there are many ways to Hell but only one way to Heaven. The funny thing is, the free gift God offers us is forgiveness through Christ – no work involved.
Okay, What do we have to look forward to: Take a look at Luke, chapter 21 (This link takes you to the chapter in Bible Gateway). Jesus is describing wars and rumors of wars, family members turning on each other, Christians being killed, and so much more. It seems strange that in the midst of all this chaos and horrible stuff, Jesus says, “But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. Everyone will hate you because of me. But not a hair of your head will perish. Stand firm, and you will win life.” While these are not the only references to end times, they are a good start.
It is because of your relationship with Jesus that He will defend and protect you. He didn’t say it won’t be bad or that life will be wonderful for you, but that you will win life (eternity with Him). To put it another way, He will take your hand and guide and be with you through all of your trials and tribulations.
The bottom line is simple: there are a lot of very bad things on their way and we don’t get to escape them all. As sad as this may be, if you don’t have a relationship with Jesus, you won’t get to escape any of it! For those of us who trust that Jesus is who He says He is, we will suffer with you for a little while and then we will be gone.
Shameless Plug: I would encourage you to visit our End Times page and return to it often as we build it into a tool you can use. We will not only discuss what the end times are and what to expect, we will include information on how to survive till Jesus returns or we are taken up to be with Him. If you are a non-believer you will be included in the tribulation and the tools we provide will help you to surviv those times as well.
